Everyone has something to share
At The British Home, there are endless opportunities to make a positive
impact in the life of an older adult. From simple one-time commitments
to ongoing volunteer assignments, just like the residents who live on our
campus, volunteer opportunities come in a wide variety of shapes, sizes and
personalities. That's why, at The British Home, we encourage people of all
ages and interests to interact with our community through the special gift of
volunteerism. We take care to match the right volunteers with the right projects
to best suit your interest and your schedule. A fun and comprehensive training program is provided for all volunteers.
Here are just a few of the many ways you can help:
- Assist with a one-time special event such as our Concert Under the Stars,
Holiday Bazaar, or Annual Golf Outing
- Prepare homemade goodies for our Holiday Meal Deliveries to homebound elders
- Make a telephone call to check on an older adult who lives alone in the community
- Provide one-on-one friendly visits with on-campus residents
- Share a hobby or talent with residents such as an art or craft, gardening, creative writing, music, knowledge about a special subject, etc.
- Assit our activities staff with hands-on programs for cognitively impaired residents such as: games, art, cooking, gardening, etc.
- Teach our Older Adult Computer Classes in our on-campus computer lab
- Help older adults in the local communities with yard work during one of our
Community Service Weekends in the Spring and Fall
